I'm a small business bakery owner!!
You probably guessed that, though, since I went AWOL on this blog. I've traded my blogging time for baking time.
But this week's order canceled, so hey-- here I am!!
It's been the craziest six months-- I've learned SO MUCH and I've met just the nicest people.
If you want to see my latest cake and cookie art, you can follow me on my website https://myonedelight.com or on my Facebook page.
My cookie biz is called My One Delight, which is a lyric from a hymn:
"Never can I repay thee, Lord,
But I can love thee, thy pure word.
Hath it not been my one delight-
My joy by day, my dream by night?"
-Savior, Redeemer of My Soul
I pulled the idea of naming my cookie business after a hymn lyric from this blog, My Joy and My Song (which also happens to be a lyric from a favorite hymn called The Lord is my Light).
Actually, this plan of staying at home to be a mother and then working from home at night connects me to my maternal Grandmother, who passed away last February. She was a seamstress and could sew ANYTHING. When my mom was growing up, Grandma was often hired by the local fabric store to sew the outfits for mannequins in the store.
She would keep a workroom and a desk set up with her sewing equipment and used this skill to earn money on the side.
I've felt a sweet connection to her, staying home to be my children's mother but also reserving a special space for myself to grow.
It's been good. Even with gas at $4.66 a gallon, God has been good to us this past year.
