AWESOME Fact #1-- Is The Godhead Just One Person?

When I say, Mormon, what do you think of?

How about, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

This church is one that's known for a lot of things, but maybe not for the right things.

I'm starting a mini series giving Did You Know facts about my church, because we've got some really interesting doctrine that isn't well known. A lot of it is mind boggling and all of it is interesting.

So, let's see how much you know!

#1:God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are separate people.

Wait, what?

No, it's true!

A lot of religions sort of group the Godhead into one being, unknown and unknowable.

However, we believe that the Godhead consists of Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father, and the Holy Ghost, and that they are completely separate entities.

But there are verses in the Bible like this--

"Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me..." (John 14:11).

And also this one, from the Book of Mormon this time:

"And now Father, I pray unto thee for them, and also for all those who shall believe on their words, that they may believe in me, that I may be in them as thou, Father, art in me, that we may be one." (3 Nephi 19:29)

So how does that work?

As I understand it, this is Jesus' way of saying that He and the Father are perfectly in tune. To come to know Jesus IS to come to know the Father, because Jesus perfectly represents him.

So not only are these separate entities, we actually know a lot about them. We have a record of Jesus' actions and words, and we know that what he did is a perfect representation of the Father.

SUMMARY:

Cool Fact #1: Jesus Christ, God the Father, and the Holy Ghost are separate entities, and we actually know quite a lot about both Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father as individuals because of the teachings of the Bible.
