Shh! My Secret Writing Dream

Hello hello!

It's been a long, looooong time since I've posted anything. Yes, I'm still alive, still baking, still chasing my kids!

In the last several months, I've had a beautiful TEN POUND baby boy! My oldest finished first grade, my second is preparing for kindergarten, and my two-year-old was just recently banned from watching Raya and the Last Dragon, since he was clearly taking careful notes and now regularly beats on his big sisters.

Joe is ALMOST finished with his first year of radiology residency at Yale and I've perfected my sugar cookie recipe. Be warned, world, THEY. ARE. GOOD.

We just passed our One Year Mark in Connecticut! I love this beautiful state and our home here.

I just wanted to update you on something exciting that is in the works.

If you know me, you know that I love to write. I've got about eight stories bouncing around in my head that I'm slowly writing down.

Someday soon I'll give you a quick, bullet point list of my current manuscripts and their basic plot points, but not today (gotta run and make dinner for some hungry kids).

My current manuscript is a continuation of the story of Peter Pan and Captain Hook. I've been chewing on this story for almost eight years. I've written a full draft that I subsequently trashed, since it wasn't what I wanted it to be, and then several more partial drafts, each of which edged me closer to that final story destination.

I have had the basic ideas in my head for years, but this story could be written from 360 different storytelling degrees and I had to narrow it down to one.

Well-- good news! I have my seven-point-plotline finished and I am tickity-tapping away at my keyboard every chance I get. I've written about 41,000 words, and I'm about half done.

I'm really excited about this book. It's going to be a good one, you just wait. I enjoy writing it and my kids love when I tell them stories from my Neverland.

I'll give you updates as I go forward, but I won't let you read it just yet. I'm hoping to give publishing a try in a few years, once I have this finished and ready to submit to agents and publishers. THEN you can read it!

It won't happen for a while yet, but it's going to happen!

Cheers, and have a WONDERFUL June! (It's my second-favorite month of the year, after December. It's a good world.)
